Village Inn in Receivership

The Parish Council understands that the Village Inn, owned by Mr Robert Camping, was placed in Receivership on 9th December 2015.

Registered as Goosebumps Weddings Ltd, with only one registered officer (Robert Paul Camping) and with a correspondence address of 69 Dyke Road Avenue, Hove, BN3 6DA, it appears as though the London-based Opus Restructuring company has been appointed as Receiver.

The Village Inn (known as The Maple Inn until Bob Camping took over the establishment in the autumn of 2014) is registered as an Asset of Community Value.

Buriton Parish Council was notified by East Hampshire District Council on 9 October 2015 that they had received written notification from the owner of this asset of their intention to sell. As the letter from EHDC explained, this notice triggered an interim 6 week moratorium period during which a Community Interest Group (CIG) may request to be treated as a potential bidder.

The Parish Council agreed that it should register an interest so that the community could be considered as a bidder.  This extended the moratorium period until 6th April 2016.

During this moratorium period the owner can continue to market their land and negotiate sales but cannot exchange contracts or enter into a binding contract to exchange contracts, except to a CIG.

An active group of parishioners is currently working on the details of a potential bid.
