Down On Buriton's Farms

Image

We are fortunate to have some beautiful countryside in the parish of Buriton - and to have a number of local farmers who keep it looking so rich and varied.

In 2008 the community launched a 'Down on Buriton's Farms' initiative to:

  • enhance links between villagers and farmers
  • help local businesses by making local produce available
  • provide educational and social opportunities on local farms; and
  • combine fun with valuable practical activities on farms - such as our 'sheep rolling rota'.

Details of how to buy local beef, lamb and pork are provided below and on the pages relating to each of the farms.

Hundreds of people have enjoyed the programme of 'Down on Buriton's farms' events in previous years. People always seem interested in finding out more about our local farms and the annual programmes have included:

  • Lambing days at Nursted Farm
  • Bluebell Walk and Farm Tea at Bolinge Hill Farm
  • Farm Open Days with Trailer Rides and Barbecues
  • 'Seniors' Afternoon Farm Teas
  • Guided walks around fields and farms
  • Local Livestock at the Village Show
  • An annual 'Food and Farming' talk around Harvest Festival time.

More details of forthcoming events will appear in the Whats's On pages of this website.

More and more people are now trying the delicious produce from our local farms - the flavours are fantastic. You can find out more here:
