With the village hall unavailable the organisers of the annual village show put their thinking caps on and came up with a winning formula.
Thanks to support from St Mary's Church and the Five Bells, it was decided that the show should go on: vegetables and flowers in the church; craft and baking in the pub; and outside events, as usual, on the Recreation Ground.
Committee Chairman Maggie Johnston said: ?It was a huge success. The numbers of entries were up, the three sites worked brilliantly and the weather was perfect.?
?Yet again the judges were most impressed by the standards and the really exciting thing was the number of new people in the parish getting involved. We have had many lovely comments on the locations of the displays - and we are also grateful to the tea team, the raffle team and to everyone else who contributed to this wonderful occasion.?
The following day saw the Open Gardens: a relatively new addition to the show weekend which is also growing in numbers with seven gardens open to the public this year.
