New volunteers are needed to keep the show going
For one reason or another, some of the small group who run the annual village show cannot continue the good work. Can you help?
Volunteers are needed to take over the horticultural bits from Ian & Maggie Johnston, who have organised it for many years. They will show you the ropes, so you wouldn’t be dropped in it!
Buzz Cousins, who has chaired the organising committee for some years has now moved away from the parish and can’t continue to help. But he is also committed to supporting whoever takes over until they’re confident in the role.
Like any event, the show takes a fair amount of time and energy in the run-up to showtime in August. Most of the year however it’s easy-going or off the radar altogether. Work has just started to plan for this summer’s event.
Please let Buzz know if you’d be willing to help (07526 757639 or cousinsjulien@gmail.com).
As the organisers explain: “The Village Show has been a staple of parish life for longer than anyone can remember. Everyone enjoys the harmless fun and social focus which it provides. But it always needs fresh ideas to evolve and, as things stand, its future is in doubt. Joining the organising group is a wonderful way to get involved in the community and it’s hoped that some fresh faces will appear to help rejuvenate it. Please contact Buzz to find out more (07526 757639 or cousinsjulien@gmail.com) or any of the other committee members if you happen to know them: Fran Vesey at The Five Bells, Sian Griffiths, Nigel Easton, Maggie & Ian Johnston. They look forward to hearing from you”.
