In the Morgue at the Five Bells until 21st March

Art in the Morgue, the Gallery at the Five Bells in Buriton, will be hosting an exhibition of works by the Artist and Landscape Architect Paul J Best from 15th to 21st March (11am to 11pm).

Landscape Reflections will feature over 30 works, including original paintings and limited edition prints inspired mostly by the landscapes and seascapes of Hampshire.

Paul studied Landscape Architecture at Cheltenham College of Art and Fine Art at Southampton Institute and has practiced as a Landscape Architect in Hampshire for the past 25 years. He has designed a number of Nationally award winning Public realm projects in Hampshire including the Millennium promenade and 'Timespace' located on the Gosport waterfront. Whilst he has always painted and has worked with a number of artists in the creation of distinctive landscapes, over the past year he has scaled up his own painting activities, submitting works for the Titchfield Art and Craft show and being awarded as best runner up in the new exhibitor category. He went on to be selected to exhibit in the New Forest Open Arts exhibition at the New Forest Visitor centre and as an exhibitor in the Sketches of Romsey exhibition at Rum's Eg gallery in Romsey. He is now regularly selling works through a number of Hampshire based art galleries.

Landscape Reflections will feature works created in acrylic paints with the distinctive incorporation of reflective paints used to capture and reflect light in the works. The effect created changes at different times of day with the changing light conditions. The paintings are often heavily textured incorporating pastes sand and sometimes gold leaf.
