How do you find lasting love in today’s world?
For documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr. Wrongs, to the dismay of her eccentric mother Cath (Emma Thompson).
For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbour Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan.
As Zoe films his hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach.
This British romcom film comes from the Working Title studio (“Love Actually,” “Notting Hill,” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral”) and whilst no one will be surprised by the story's conclusion, the lead-up to it is so supportive that it earns a happily-ever-after ending.
PLEASE NOTE: the organisers are now monitoring attendance numbers as, should there not be a good turn out this season, the local film shows may have to cease because they have not recently been financially sustainable.
Films are shown in Buriton Village Hall near Petersfield.
Doors open at 7pm and films start at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £5 on the door – having the exact money is very helpful.
Refreshments are available before the film starts at every show.
