Currently nominated for 4 Oscars and 5 Bafta Awards, Buriton's village hall cinema has scooped another box office favourite for 2012 - another film not to be missed.
Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, "The Help" stars Emma Stone as Skeeter, a southern society girl who returns from college and decides to write a book from the point of view of the maids (known as the Help) who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families.
When she decides to interview some of the black maids she turns the lives of her friends – and a small Mississippi town – upside down. Gradually more and more women come forward to tell their stories – and as it turns out, they have a lot to say.
Along the way, unlikely friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become unwittingly – and unwillingly – caught up in the changing times
Emma Stone is sparkling in a hugely enjoyable adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel.
