Films in Buriton are back with an exciting feast of films for the autumn season.

As usual, ice creams, wine and nibbles will be on sale.

Forthcoming films are as follows:

Friday 8th September: 'Hidden Figures'

Friday 6th October: 'Viceroy's House'

Friday 10th November: 'Hampstead'

Friday 8th December: 'Another Mother's Son'

Hidden Figures

Irresistibly uplifting.

Getting people into space is one of humanity’s greatest achievements, but the role of a team of female mathematicians at NASA, who played a part in getting them there, has gone unsung for too long.

And the fact that some of them were African American is the surprise draw of this inspiring, Oscar-nominated account.

Starring Taraji P Henson, Janelle Monae and Kevin Costner.

Viceroy's House

Gripping drama throughout.

In 1947, British statesman Lord Mountbatten (Hugh Bonneville) serves as India's last Viceroy and is charged with handing India back to its people.

But the transition of British India to independence meets with conflict as different sides clash in the face of monumental change.

Seventy years after the partition of India, director Gurinder Chadha delivers a lavish and heartfelt account of the household caught in the middle – and of the millions of people who were uprooted or killed in what remains the largest mass migration of people in history.

Hampstead

A romantic comedy drawing on a true life story.

An American widow living in Hampstead forms an unlikely alliance (and finds unexpected love) with a man living wild on the Heath (Brendan Gleeson).

Together they take on unscrupulous developers who want to get their hands on parts of the neighbourhood.

Another Mother's Son

Based on a true story, this is a moving drama about a forgotten occupation.

The setting is Nazi-occupied Jersey in 1942-43 and Louisa Gould (Jenny Seagrove) takes in and hides an escaped Russian Prisoner of War.

As the island community-spirit begins to fray under pressures of hunger, occupation and divided loyalty, Lou fights to preserve her family's sense of humanity and to protect the Russian boy as if he was her own.

Beauty and the Beast

Emma Watson and Dan Stevens star in this adaptation of the classic fairytale about a monstrous looking prince and a young woman who fall in love. The tale may be as old as time, but it’s retold with freshness and flair.

Doors open at 5.30pm, film starts at 6pm.

In the past some children have brought floor cushions to sit on for this Christmas performance which has been fun.
