More kissing encouraged on walks between Buriton and Petersfield

Volunteers from Petersfield Ramblers, in conjunction with the HCC Countryside Team, have recently replaced two awkward stiles with kissing gates

In recent years Buriton Parish Council has removed over 20 stiles on popular rights of way in the area and now, thanks to the generosity and hard work of the Petersfield Ramblers Club, the section of the Hangers Way between Buriton and Petersfield will soon be stile free.

The volunteers have recently installed a new bridge as well as two new kissing gates – and plans are in hand to replace the last two remaining stiles in June.

The project, initiated and managed by HelenMountain (Petersfield Ramblers Club Rights of Way Officer) is jointly funded by Petersfield Ramblers Club and the Hampshire Countryside Agency.

Everyone hopes that the new gates will add to the attractiveness of walking in the countryside around Buriton and help to make paths accessible to use for more people.
