Fun and funds from Quiz Night

Buriton's 'Alternative Quiz Night' on 14th May was a huge success - providing fun for participants and funding for our link with Dominase.

Quiz Master Paul Martin entertained over 100 villagers and guests with a series of subtle, amusing and frustrating rounds of questions.

The winners were ?Thrown Together? who just pipped ?We don't know nuffin? to first place.  At the other end of the table were the not-so-aptly-named ?Best Men?.

But the real winners are probably some of the poorest residents of Dominase. The Quiz Night raised over £1,000 to help with Buriton's ?Buy a Bog? sanitation campaign.

For more details about this initiative - and ways of helping - please read about our 'Buy a Bog' campaign

Also revealed during the quiz were the winners of the special 'Lambing Lottery' organised by Elaine Bray and family at Nursted Farm. Sarah Marks won the first prize of £50 with the ewe that she had chosen being the very last to give birth.  Second prize went to Graham Biggs and third prize to Pauline Jenkins.  Congratulations to the prize-winners - and to all the ewes!

Relatively small amounts of money can make a really big difference to people in Dominase and every penny raised is spent directly on projects in Dominase.

The 'Village-to-Village' Group is trying to find ways of attracting money from other places - so that we don't only have to rely on the generosity of parishioners.  If you know of any companies or organisations who may be willing to help with our work, please let us know.

As a Registered Charity we may now be able to apply for grants to match money that we raise locally.
