Buriton's day of activities to mark VE Day: POSTPONED

2020 sees the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the government has arranged for a special Bank Holiday weekend: May 8th-10th.

A group of parishioners (with representatives from the church, the school, both pubs, the bell-ringers, the parish council and other organisations) had been arranging a series of activities and events in Buriton on Saturday 9th May – BUT ALL PLANS HAVE NOW BEEN POSTPONED.

At 11am it had been hoped that as many parishioners as possible would gather outside the church for a huge photograph of the entire community – as taken in the past on other similar occasions.

Other events (earlier and later in the day and evening) were to have included activities for all ages and the tone was to be carefully judged so as to commemorate and look forward …

MORE DETAILS ABOUT RE-ARRANGED PLANS WILL BE CIRCULATED IN THE MONTHS AHEAD. 

It is still hoped to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day in an appropriate (small and safe) manner and it is possible, depending on global events, that activities could take place to mark VJ Day in August.
