Defibrillator now available

Temporary location in Kiln Lane until a High Street site is confirmed by the District Council

The team who have been arranging a defibrillator for the village are pleased to announce that it is installed and ready for use at 4 Kiln Lane, Buriton, GU31 5SG. This is a temporary location until a High Street site is confirmed by EHDC.

People are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the procedures for CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) and use of the defibrillator. Unfortunately due to lockdown and Covid restrictions the team cannot safely run courses in groups.

Here is a YouTube link to learn with the British Heart Foundation. There are many other sites online to choose from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMGpsKitCXE.

PLEASE NOTE THESE IMPORTANT ACTIONS, in the unlikely event of you requiring a defibrillator:

  • Call emergency services first dialling 999 or 112 and summon help
  • Send someone else to collect the defibrillator. (NB. the Defibrillator talks the user clearly through necessary actions if needed)
  • Stay with the person who has collapsed
  • Commence CPR if you are unable to find a pulse on the unconscious person. The services may get to you before you need to use the Defibrillator. Rest assured this does happen in most cases.

Dialling 999/112: Use a landline or Mobile phone, which will search a strong local signal if 999/112 is dialled. If not, you can also use the phone box in the High Street which is in working order. The team would like to thank the generosity of local residents who made the purchase of the facility possible.
