Buriton Farms

Bluebell Walk and Farm Tea at Bolinge Hill Farm

An opportunity for parishioners, family and friends to take a delightful guided stroll along farm paths not normally open to the public - and opportunities (weather permitting) to see thousands of bluebells and impressive Early Purple orchids.

Farm owner Susan Shone will also provide afternoon tea back at Bolinge Hill farmhouse where visitors will be able to wander around the gardens. All proceeds will go to the Home Farm Trust.

Please help to avoid fires

Farmers are worried about fires in this extremely dry spell and hope parishioners can help - and avoid the risk of fires spreading to village homes and gardens.

With crops being tinder dry (and no sign of rain for the foreseeable future) it is feared that any spark could create a Buriton version of the Lancashire moor fires.

"Love the Links" Day

Join a gaggle of villagers to help cut back some of the scrub and brambles followed by delicious coffee and cakes provided by Mrs Shone.

Due to wet weather in recent years and new regulations affecting farmers, Mrs Shone has been unable to keep the Links looking as beautiful as she would like.

She can't get any big equipment into the valley because of the slopes, she is no longer allowed to spray the weeds because of effects on the water supply in the stream and so the grass is not now attractive enough for her cattle to eat. She tried to encourage cattle into the Links from the northern end some time ago, but they refused to go as there was not enough to eat!

Can we help?
