Buriton and the First World War: some reflections to mark the Armistice

A fascinating overview of local research work.

For the last four years, a small team of researchers has been trying to find out what living conditions were like in the area a hundred years ago as well as discovering information about every one of the parishioners who took part in the world-wide conflict.

Their work has been published as a centre-page, pull-out supplement in every edition of the Parish Magazine since the autumn of 2014.

This event, which is part of Buriton's programme of activities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War, will bring together some insights from the research work and will feature a range of illustrated presentations from Lynette Watson, Paul Turrell and Doug Jones.

The event begins at 7.30pm in the Village Hall and everyone is welcome. Admission will be free of charge with a retiring collection to cover costs.
